A Brief History

We used to operate 2 brands:

Busy Tables that was an indoor learning centre that pivoted into a party and events activity provide

My Messy Box that was a sensory play subscription service

We have combined both brands and rebranded as Box of Learning in order to offer a wider range of provides and services without confusing customers with a branding that’s too narrow.

The Idea

The idea for Box of Learning came about when we realised that the prices we charge schools for enrichment classes were so much lower than the prices we charge individual customers. This is due to multiple factors:

  1. We conducted school enrichment classes in the school premises itself, whereas we have to rent spaces to conduct our regular classes.
  2. Lessons were conducted during school hours on weekdays, we did not have to pay peak rates for manpower and logistics as compared to regular classes which are mostly held during the weekends.

There are also a few other pros and cons:

  1. School teachers are present during class and can repeat activities at their own time if needed. Whereas parents are not present during public enrichment classes, and will not be able to review the activities with their child adequately.
  2. As school classes are larger, there are less materials and resources to go around, so each child will need to wait their turn to do each activity, a typical 15 minutes activity may twice as long as a result.
  3. Aside from sharing materials, the students also have to share the teacher’s attention, a teacher teaching 1 child can definitely pay a lot more attention to that child versus a teacher who is teaching 20.

Thus, Box of Learning was born, to deliver a programme that combines the best of both worlds while eliminating as much of the nuances as possible. Some key features of this programmes are:

  • Low in cost
  • All the materials provided for your child
  • Full transparency in teaching materials for parents
  • Lessons can be conducted anytime, anywhere.
