Utica Shale E&P Encino Acquisition Partners (EAP) has appointed Brent J. Smolik to its board of directors, effective Dec. 2, Encino said in its Dec. 16 press release.
Smolik holds experience in global oil and gas production, midstream and oilfield services, in most major producing basins spanning from western Canada to Texas, the release said.
He most recently served on Marathon Oil’s board until its merger with ConocoPhillips. Smolik previously held roles at Noble Energy, EP Energy Corp., El Paso Corp., ConocoPhillips and Burlington Resources.
"We are excited to welcome Brent to EAP's board of directors," said Hardy Murchison, Encino Acquisition Corp.’s CEO. "Brent is a valuable addition to EAP's already outstanding board. His breadth and depth of experience in building and adding value to large independents like EAP will serve the Company well as we continue unlocking the potential of Ohio's Utica shale."
Encino is Ohio’s largest producer of oil and third-largest producer of natural gas with 1.2 million leasehold acres in the Utica Shale, the release stated.
