Murphy Oil Corp.’s current COO Eric M. Hambly has been appointed to CEO and president effective Jan. 1, 2025 following Roger W. Jenkins’ departure in the role.
Jenkins will retire from Murphy’s board on Dec. 31 and will assume a non-executive role as an advisor until his retirement, Murphy said.
Additionally, the board has also added Hambly and Robert B. Tudor III, the founder and CEO of Artemis Energy and former CEO of Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co., as new directors.
Hambly joined Murphy in 2006 and has since played roles in the company’s operations in Malaysia, Singapore, onshore U.S. and offshore U.S. Gulf of Mexico (GoM). He became executive vice president of operations in 2020 and assumed his current position as president and COO in February 2024.
Jenkins, who currently serves on the American Petroleum Institute’s board, joined Murphy in 2001 and moved up to the roles of president, CEO and board member in 2013. During his tenure as CEO, he led the company’s business development in the GoM.
"The board is deeply appreciative of Roger's outstanding leadership during the last 11 years. He has been integral in continuing to build our company and led the development of the company's Kikeh Field, one of our largest and most profitable projects,” said Claiborne P. Deming, Murphy's board chairman.
