Gulf Coast Midstream Partners is launching a non-binding open season for firm storage service at the proposed Freeport Energy Storage Hub (FRESH). The open season runs from Oct. 1 through Oct. 24.
The salt cavern facility will be built southwest of Houston in Fort Bend County, Texas, and provide interconnects with 17 natural gas pipelines in the area, including TGP, Enterprise Texas, Matterhorn Express, and Transco, Gulf Coast said in mid-September.

The company filed an H-4 storage permit with the Texas Railroad Commission in January and expects to receive approval by Dec. 31. A final investment decision is planned for third-quarter 2025, and the in-service target is mid-2028.
Market support will determine the final size of the project, according to the announcement. People interested in bidding can contact Gulf Coast Midstream Chief Commercial Officer Edmund Knolle at edmund@gulfcoastmidstream.com.
The proposed project lies north and east of the nearby Tres Palacios salt cavern gas storage facility, which opened in 2008 and serves customers and operators of the Freeport LNG facility.
